The above chart describes Elementary Particle Physics and the breakdown of an ATOM and as atoms combine they form molecules...

Atoms are composed of a nucleus in which a neutron and proton reside and an Lepton (typically known as an electron in high school physics).  The Lepton (electron) rotates around the nucleus like the earth around the sun.

While there is nothing inside the Lepton Particle, there are 6 different types of Leptons which can be seen on the left side of the above chart.

Neutrons can be composed of three different quarks as see above and Protons are also composed of three different type quarks as well.

It is widely believed by theoretical physicists that 1 dimensional strings is what combines with other strings to form Leptons and Quarks to make various kinds of ATOMS...
