Being in the presence of others is SECURITY not HAPPINESS.
- When we sleep we sleep alone.
- When we dream we dream alone.
- When we think we think alone.
- Our value to God is ours alone.
- Our birth and death is ours alone.
- Our contributions to life is ours alone.
- Our very survival may well depend upon the presence of others, but the life we lead and the body we command to our will is entirely OUR OWN.
The mistake that is often made in marriages is that we think we are marrying the other people to improve or increase our happiness when in fact that marriage is subconsciously predicated upon SECURITY and/or the avoidance of RISK.
Risk and Security in this case are based upon the joining of finances and the caring for of each other's health as two people can live more comfortably than one and if one becomes ill the other one can care for them and nurse them back to health. The perpetuation of the species is the natural instinct of modern day marriage but again that is not happiness although happiness may be derived from having children and watching them grow and leave home.
Then... we are back to being alone...
Our society, especially here in the US of A, has not taught us how to be alone or how to derive any happiness out of being alone... our society has only taught us marriage and divorce and remarriage again and again until we have the good fortune to leave this life... because our life on earth is not to prepare for our happiness but to prepare for our inevitable deaths.
