Even Though...

I am taking daily immunotherapy pills and monthly immunotherapy infusions and monthly IVIG infusions to boost my low white and red blood cells, I have still managed to acquire a skin infection on my face, a sinus infection, and now an ear infection.  After two weeks of having my right ear drain throughout the day and night, I finally went to the clinic and was informed by the NP that my right ear was infection and was given two prescriptions for 5 and 7 days respectively.

My age of 73, I am sure, makes things worse but it is a real BITCH getting old and encountering all this stuff, especially after a decade of eating healthy.

I have a constant daily intake of:

  • onions
  • garlic
  • mushrooms
  • peppers
And now that the summer is upon us and our vege garden is producing, my diet now includes a daily dose of:
  • tomatoes
  • squash
  • zucchini

My advice to everyone is to try and stay as healthy as you can for as long as you can, so that when you decide to retire, your retirement years will not be filled doctor visits and physical limitations.

A Sign of Intelligence

Your ability to BS your way through life may be a sign of intelligence, according to a recent study.

“If someone is a good bulls----er, they are likely quite smart,” says Martin Turpin, a graduate student at the Reasoning and Decision Making Lab at the Unversity of Waterloo and co-lead on the study recently published in the scientific journal Evolutionary Psychology.

Turpin and his colleagues found that people who are better at producing believable explanations for concepts, even when those explanations aren’t based on fact, typically score better on intelligence tests than those who struggle to “bulls---,” as the study puts it.

“However, it is not the case that those who are not good bulls----ers are less intelligent,” Turpin says.

Turpin says just like having a sense of humor is linked to intelligence, many smart people are not funny. “The same could be said of bulls----ing,” he says.

For the study, researchers described a “bullsh---er” as someone who “is neither on the side of the true nor on the side of the false...He does not care whether the things he says describe reality correctly. He just picks them out, or makes them up, to suit his purpose.”

To conduct the study, researchers used 1,017 participants across two separate studies that examined the subjects’ willingness to BS, how good they were at it and their overall cognitive ability.

To measure subjects’ ability to BS, each person was asked about 10 “concepts” with names like “Sexual Selection Theory” and “General Relativity” — some were real concepts and some were made up. Participants rated their knowledge of each using a five-point scale ranging from “never heard of it” to “know it well, understand the concept.”  TO READ ENTIRE ARTICLE, CLICK HERE...

Strange Signals

On April 28, 2020, two ground-based radio telescopes detected an intense pulse of radio waves. It only lasted a mere millisecond but, for astonished astronomers, it was a major discovery, representing the first time a fast radio burst (FRB) had ever been detected so close to Earth.

Located just 30,000 light-years from our planet, the event was firmly within the Milky Way, and it was, to all intents and purposes, almost impossible to miss. The Canadian Hydrogen Intensity Mapping Experiment (CHIME) and the Survey for Transient Astronomical Radio Emission 2 (STARE2) certainly had no problems picking it up.

"CHIME wasn’t even looking in the right direction and we still saw it loud and clear in our peripheral vision," said Kiyoshi Masui, assistant professor of physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. "STARE2 also saw it, and it’s only a set of a few radio antennae literally made out of cake pans."

Until that point, all FRBs had been observed outside our galaxy. "They’ve been billions of light years away, making them a lot harder to study," said doctoral candidate in physics Pragya Chawla from McGill University in Canada.

April 2020’s discovery was also notable for being the most energetic radio blast that astronomers have ever recorded in the Milky Way, but what made it most exciting is that scientists are now closer to determining the origin of FRBs than at any point since they were first discovered.  TO READ MORE, CLICK HERE...

Some Democrats Lie

Not too long ago, George Floyd was killed by a racist white policeman and the black community went BERZERK to put it mildly...  there were all sorts of riots in the streets and the Black Lives Matter Movement became the topic of discussion in all communities throughout the USA...

Eventually, the Democrats used the KILLING OF FLOYD to push a movement from the east coast to the west coast regarding DEFUNDING THE POLICE...  most police departments that this was ludicrous to say the least and warned that the people who would suffer the most if this were done were black people.

NEVERTHELESS, several cities did in fact pass resolutions where police departments were defunded...  and, guess what happened???

CRIME WENT UP...    go figure???

NOW, the Democrats want this Infrastructure Package to be passed by Congress but the Republicans are saying NO...  no way Jose...

So, what do the Democrats do next?

They blame the DEFUNDING OF THE POLICE on the Republicans because they do not want to pass this Infrastructure Package...

FOLKS...  THAT'S CALLED LYING...

Forgot About HIPPA... sorry...

A Proposal For Your Consideration

I am not opposed to people earning money because in my Economics Classes in Grad School, it was abundantly clear that Economic Growth is only stimulated by GREED...  However, there should be limits on one's greed as one billionaire recently told me, "I'll never be able to spend all my money in my lifetime."

Secondly, I am not and will never be supportive of SOCIALISM, even though our government is currently funding numerous Socialistic Programs...  our Free Market Enterprise System must be protected.

So, a possible solution to this is the following:  put caps on annual income that someone can earn in one profession...   There is no need for a professional athlete to earn millions of dollars a year to play sports.  Nor is there a need for CEO's to earn 50 times what their employees earn when it is their employees who are really responsible for growing the company.

However, there is no reason why a professional athlete who has reached his/her cap in sports cannot open a restaurant for another cap.  And, open an resort for a third cap...   They should be allowed as many caps as they want to pursue in one lifetime.

Not only should we have caps on income, but I propose the following:

Professional FOOTBALL (and all other professional sports) should finance all College/University Football Programs, as well as all High School Football Programs.

Pharmaceutical Companies should finance all healthcare operations.

Private Industry should finance all Space Programs and Military Programs except for the Coast Guard and Homeland Security.

ALL RELIGIOUS INSTITUTIONS should be responsible for funding all educational programs K-12 plus BA, MA, and PhD programs.

We should modify our educational programs so that people who want to be trained in a certain area should pass a competency test in that area and become certified, instead of receiving a BA or MA or PhD and simply memorize.  And, it should not matter if that person receives his/her knowledge from a school or from self study as long as they can pass the test.

We should provide livable wages for everyone providing they achieve a certain amount of productivity rather than just sitting around the house collecting welfare.  Everybody can do something.

We would still have people who would fall into wealth categories because of their own motivation personalities.

ALL DRUGS should be legalized and professionally distributed by INDUSTRY to those who want to purchase them.  These drugs would be taxed...  but, it would eliminate ALL ILLEGAL SALES of ALL ILLEGAL DRUGS.

All INMATES that are incarcerated in our Federal/State Prisons should have to perform some type of work for society as part of their punishment.  Building roads and bridges, repairing roads and bridges, picking crops, etc.

Black Holes Confirmed

Study offers evidence, based on gravitational waves, to show that the total area of a black hole’s event horizon can never decrease.

There are certain rules that even the most extreme objects in the universe must obey. A central law for black holes predicts that the area of their event horizons — the boundary beyond which nothing can ever escape — should never shrink. This law is Hawking’s area theorem, named after physicist Stephen Hawking, who derived the theorem in 1971.

Fifty years later, physicists at MIT and elsewhere have now confirmed Hawking’s area theorem for the first time, using observations of gravitational waves. Their results appear today (July 1, 2021) in Physical Review Letters.

In the study, the researchers take a closer look at GW150914, the first gravitational wave signal detected by the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory (LIGO), in 2015. The signal was a product of two inspiraling black holes that generated a new black hole, along with a huge amount of energy that rippled across space-time as gravitational waves.

If Hawking’s area theorem holds, then the horizon area of the new black hole should not be smaller than the total horizon area of its parent black holes. In the new study, the physicists reanalyzed the signal from GW150914 before and after the cosmic collision and found that indeed, the total event horizon area did not decrease after the merger — a result that they report with 95 percent confidence.

Physicists at MIT and elsewhere have used gravitational waves to observationally confirm Hawking’s black hole area theorem for the first time. Their findings mark the first direct observational confirmation of Hawking’s area theorem, which has been proven mathematically but never observed in nature until now. The team plans to test future gravitational-wave signals to see if they might further confirm Hawking’s theorem or be a sign of new, law-bending physics.

“It is possible that there’s a zoo of different compact objects, and while some of them are the black holes that follow Einstein and Hawking’s laws, others may be slightly different beasts,” says lead author Maximiliano Isi, a NASA Einstein Postdoctoral Fellow in MIT’s Kavli Institute for Astrophysics and Space Research. “So, it’s not like you do this test once and it’s over. You do this once, and it’s the beginning.”  TO READ THE ENTIRE ARTICLE, CLICK HERE...
