Instinct and Desire

Earth in the
"Star Trek" universe is an egalitarian, utopian planet that has long ago shrugged off the habit of war. People in Star Trek's vision of the 23rd century use their time and talents to explore the universe, create art and probe the mysteries of science. While some have dismissed this aspect of the show as its most fanciful element, psychologists and political scientists say it might not be so unrealistic.

"I do think humans might someday reach more peaceful coexistence if we don't destroy the planet first, though I doubt it will be utopia,"
said Dennis Fox, emeritus professor of legal studies and psychology at the University of Illinois at Springfield. "If utopia does come, it won't be because human nature changes, or because some governmental authority or alien race forces it upon us, but because we manage to create new social structures more conducive to satisfying human needs and values."  SOURCE:  SPACE.com

As far as I am concerned, any kind of UTOPIAN SOCIETY in our near future will happen only when we overcome the following:
  • Instinct
  • Desire
Let me explain...  if we look at the SUM TOTAL OF HISTORY we can easily conclude that our basic instinct is SURVIVAL of the species.  In order to survive we must have conflicts with winners and losers with the understanding that those loser no matter how subordinated they become will one day revolt again...  and, this struggle will continue over and over again until we are NO LONGER worried about our SURVIVAL.

The other issue that prevents a UTOPIAN SOCIETY from coming into existence, is our basic desire of GREED.  Greed has been around for as long as I can remember, for as long as my father could have remembered, for a long as my grandfather could have remembered as well, and for as long as their ancestors could have remembered when they were alive and long before them there was greed in many forms but manly revolving around POSSESSIONS of land, women, animals, and control which basically boils down to WEALTH AND CONTROL both of which underscore the concept of POWER.

If we ever overcome our basic instinctive need to SURVIVE is it highly unlikely that we will ever overcome our desire for GREED.

Life Eternal

If religious people believe in eternal life, then what is the real purpose of life here on earth from some 80-90 years?

The average life expectancy in the US is 78.87 years...  (2019 data)  However, on average people live longer in the UK 81.16 years.

So, if you are a religious person, then you can spend (ON AVERAGE) more time here on earth if you live in the UK than if you live in the US.

That should please religious people...  RIGHT?

If one had to ability to read every single book that was ever written and/or published regardless of language, then one would be able to easily surmise that the purpose of life here on earth is

SURVIVAL,

and, if this is the case, then religious beliefs are only good for life eternal...

Life eternal makes more sense anyway after the concept of survival is fulfilled because it seems completely ILLOGICAL for mankind to live 80-100 years IF all that happens to them after they die is that they are simply put into the ground or cremated.

It is also highly unlikely that mankind is the only living race of people in our ENTIRE UNIVERSE...  especially since there are over billions of billions of solar systems in our UNIVERSE.  Unless I am mistaken, that's PRETTY DAMN LARGE.

And...  if you are a religious person then you will use your basic instinct of SURVIVAL to live as long as you can on earth so that you can DIE and live for all eternity in a location called HEAVEN...  As illogical as this sounds, it makes better sense than just dying.

FURTHER, in every single Global religion there is a GOD or some form of superior being around which their religion revolves...  this cannot be MERE COINCIDENCE...  the question is whether or not this is God or some form of ANCIENT ALIEN...

An American Crime

If you had time to research and study everything that was available in libraries including the Library of Congress, you would see quite easily that everything revolves around HISTORY including the creation of the universe and the creation of mankind and if you were to SUMMARIZE that HISTORY with one word, it would probably be SURVIVAL...

Our online dictionary defines SURVIVAL as the state or fact of continuing to live or exist, typically in spite of an accident, ordeal, or difficult circumstances.

Continuing to Exist is the key phrase here...  and, as mentioned can be traced back to the beginning of time if necessary.

Life itself is violent as it continues to survive whether it be plants, animals, or humans.

Human beings ever since their creation or evolutionary existence, regardless of their race, gender, and color have struggled to survive and have used others in that process whether the be equals or slaves...  and, we can see evidence quite easily in Egypt where one race of people enslaved another race of people to build the pyramids...  and yet, all artifacts relative to that enslavement have been preserved but none destroyed because of the guilt of the past.

Why are American Blacks different from African Blacks and the African Slaves that built the pyramids in Egypt...  I lived in Egypt for 4 years and never witnessed any hysteria over the fact that Egyptians once owned and became powerful and wealthy because they had once owned and used slaves....

Why is American any different?

Don't we set the role model for the rest of the world to follow and/or emulate.

How embarrassing to all the HISTORIANS...  that survival has become an American Crime.
