Biggest Hurdle for Electric Vehicles

The Biden administration just unveiled a proposal for some of the most aggressive auto climate rules in the world — the latest step for a White House that has gone all-in on electric vehicles. But America’s EV transition faces a threat few are talking about — not because of high car costs or a lack of automaker support, but the country’s broken and dysfunctional public charging system.

Most EV drivers charge their vehicles at home. But as Americans buy EVs — to the tune of 7 percent of all new vehicle registrations in January — more and more people are finding that the public charging system is unreliable, inconvenient and simply confusing.

“I’ve seen people wait because there are only four chargers and two of them are out of service,” said Bill Ferro, the founder of EVSession, a software firm that tracks charger reliability. “Everything that I’ve seen shows that it’s driving away current and potential EV owners.”

Drivers might show up at a DC-fast charging station — which can fill a vehicle’s battery by 80 percent in about 20 minutes — to find that most of the chargers are broken. Or one might work, but only if the driver installs a particular app on their phone, creates an account and loads money onto it.

Last year, in a study conducted by researchers at the University of California at Berkeley and the climate advocacy group Cool the Earth, researchers tested every single fast charging station in the San Francisco Bay Area.

They found that more than a quarter of the 657 charging points didn’t function during a two-minute charging test. Sometimes the charging cable couldn’t reach the vehicle’s charging port; other times the payment system wouldn’t work; sometimes the charger’s screen was broken or the network was down.  READ MORE...

Understanding Your Truth

In the 1940s, our government was experiencing UFOs and kept it secret because they did not want to public to panic...  or so they claim.  EIGHTY (80) years later, our government finally admits that there have been UFOs...

SO, what is TRUTH?

Is it what our Government Leaders, Teachers, Preachers, and Parents say that it is?

  • Our parents tell us that Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny are real...  TRUTH?
  • Our religious leaders tell us the Bible is 100% accurate...   TRUTH?
  • Our teachers tell us that mankind evolved from a certain species of Chimpanzee...  TRUTH?

During my lifetime so far, I have come to believe that the GENERAL PUBLIC does not really care nor do they focus on the truth.  Whether it is right or wrong is of no concern to them.  They only issue that bugs the general public is when something interferes with their lifestyles.  Then they bitch like there is no tomorrow.

There are people dying left and right because of fentanyl smuggled into the USA from Mexico, made in China, and the public doesn't care until it is their sons or daughters that DIES...

China is preparing to dominate the world by taking over the USA economically and the general public doesn't care because they simply don't believe it will happen, even when our MILITARY LEADERS are warning us it will happen.

What is YOUR TRUTH?

How  long will you believe it?

New Twist in Human Origins

A study published in the journal Nature has proposed a new model for human evolution, asserting that modern Homo sapiens stemmed from multiple genetically diverse populations across Africa rather than a single ancestral population. This conclusion was reached after researchers analyzed genetic data from present-day African populations, including 44 newly sequenced genomes from the Nama group of southern Africa.

Contemporary DNA evidence suggests that humans emerged from the interaction of multiple populations living across the continent.

A new study in Nature challenges prevailing theories, suggesting that Homo sapiens evolved from multiple diverse populations across Africa, with the earliest detectable split occurring 120,000-135,000 years ago, after prolonged periods of genetic intermixing.

There is broad agreement that Homo sapiens originated in Africa. But there remain many uncertainties and competing theories about where, when, and how.

In a paper published on May 17, 2023, in Nature, an international research team led by McGill University and the University of California-Davis suggest that, based on contemporary genomic evidence from across the continent, there were humans living in different regions of Africa, migrating from one region to another and mixing with one another over a period of hundreds of thousands of years.

This view runs counter to some of the dominant theories about human origins in Africa.

Competing theories about human origins in Africa
One theory holds that, about 150,000 years ago, there was a single central ancestral population in Africa from which other populations diverged.

Another suggests that this central ancestral population was the result of the mixing of modern humans with a Neanderthal-like hominins (human-like beings), resulting in a leap forward in human evolution, as has been suggested took place in Eurasia.  READ MORE...

A Quantum Computer Reverses Time

Ever feel like you need more time? That it’s just flying by you?

And, then, do you ever wish you could reverse it?

A study published in Scientific Reports by an international team of researchers has demonstrated that a time-reversal program on a quantum computer is possible.

Researchers have pulled off a mind-boggling experiment using a quantum computer, and boy, does it mess with our understanding of time!

They wanted to see if they could make time reverse itself, just for a split second. You know, like rewinding a video, back in the olden days, but without the popcorn.

And guess what? They did it!

Well, sort of.

So, in the wacky world of quantum mechanics, where things can be particles and waves at the same time (talk about being indecisive!), these clever scientists created a thought experiment.

They imagined a bunch of billiard balls smashing into each other, going all haywire, and then magically rearranging themselves back into order. Like a cosmic cleanup crew, but with balls.   READ MORE...

Not My Time Yet

It has been often said and widely believed that when your time comes, there is nothing you can do to postpone death.  You may have a close call, but it just means that it was not your time.

I have been struggling with cancer for 15 years now and during those years, but in retrospect, there were a couple of close calls...  it was not my time yet.

Today, during my monthly chemo infusion and visit with the Oncologist, my latest CT exam revealed some growth in my abdomen and around my heart.  Since my melanoma was located in my groin, the Oncologist believes it to be my lymphoma or something else.

In a couple of weeks, I go for a biopsy to determine what it is and then treatment will begin.  This treatment could be surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, or immunotherapy.  The Oncologist does not want to be overly concerned until he knows with what he is dealing.

I have noticed recently that I am experiencing a lot of fatigue and have lost about 7 pounds but not altered my eating habits.  Neither of these two indicators could have anything to do with what is growing inside me.

ANXIOUS?  Not really.  I have no doubt that medicine has advanced and continues to advance and that there is something out there that will work for me.

Beyond the Reach of American Bombs

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Near a peak of the Zagros Mountains in central Iran, workers are building a nuclear facility so deep in the earth that it is likely beyond the range of a last-ditch U.S. weapon designed to destroy such sites, according to experts and satellite imagery analyzed by The Associated Press.

The photos and videos from Planet Labs PBC show Iran has been digging tunnels in the mountain near the Natanz nuclear site, which has come under repeated sabotage attacks amid Tehran’s standoff with the West over its atomic program.

With Iran now producing uranium close to weapons-grade levels after the collapse of its nuclear deal with world powers, the installation complicates the West’s efforts to halt Tehran from potentially developing an atomic bomb as diplomacy over its nuclear program remains stalled.

Completion of such a facility “would be a nightmare scenario that risks igniting a new escalatory spiral,” warned Kelsey Davenport, the director of nonproliferation policy at the Washington-based Arms Control Association. “Given how close Iran is to a bomb, it has very little room to ratchet up its program without tripping U.S. and Israeli red lines. So at this point, any further escalation increases the risk of conflict.”

The construction at the Natanz site comes five years after then-President Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew America from the nuclear accord. Trump argued the deal did not address Tehran’s ballistic missile program, nor its support of militias across the wider Middle East.   READ MORE...

Electricity From Thin Air

Sure, we all complain about the humidity on a sweltering summer day. But it turns out that same humidity could be a source of clean, pollution-free energy, a new study shows.

"Air humidity is a vast, sustainable reservoir of energy that, unlike solar and wind, is continuously available," said the study, which was published recently in the journal Advanced Materials.

“This is very exciting,” said Xiaomeng Liu, a graduate student at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, and the paper’s lead author. “We are opening up a wide door for harvesting clean electricity from thin air.”

In fact, researchers say, nearly any material can be turned into a device that continuously harvests electricity from humidity in the air.

Air 'contains an enormous amount of electricity'

“The air contains an enormous amount of electricity,” said Jun Yao, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and the paper’s senior author.  READ MORE...

Our Great Civilization Called Democracy

Most people with business degrees or backgrounds are conservative and most people with liberal arts degrees or backgrounds are liberals.  Our two parties are Republicans and Democrats respectively.  There are a group of socialists who side with the Democrats and there is a wing of the Democrats that is progressive but not quite socialistic.

Basically, the Republicans want a small central government that favors business and the Democrats want a large central government that favors labor...  although the lines between the two are sometimes blurred, making if difficult to know what side you are really on.

The Democrats want to tax the wealthy to pay for all the programs that they want to give the not so wealthy and don't seem to understand that the wealthy have their money hidden away in off shore bank accounts to AVOID TAXES.

The Conservatives do not trust the rest of the world and want a strong military to protect us against aggression from countries like China and Russia and Middle Eastern Terrorists.

For several decades both the Democrats and Republicans tried to CHANGE THE REST OF THE WORLD INTO OUR BRAND OF DEMOCRACY, not fully understanding nor appreciating the fact that those other countries did not want our brand of Democracy.  Consequently, the rest of the world, dislikes us.

While we disagree with each other at home, the rest of the world is preparing to take us over economically as well as with military force if the economy side does not work.  Americans laugh at that idea and believe it will never happen.

Drone Attacks on Russia

Dwindling military resources and a dearth of new targets have left Russian President Vladimir Putin struggling to respond to a rise of troubling drone attacks on Moscow.

Several analysts have noted in recent days that Putin has attempted to downplay dramatic attacks on the Russian capital – for which Ukraine has explicitly denied any responsibility, at least publicly.

The attacks have gained widespread attention on social media, particularly in Russia, with some observers suggesting that they were the result of a false-flag operation orchestrated by the Kremlin to force national support for a new round of military conscriptions it likely needs.

Yet Putin’s response appears to discount that theory.

Instead of maximizing the attacks for propaganda purposes, the Russian leader’s reaction appears to be an attempt “to avoid exposing the limited options he has to retaliate against Ukraine,” the independent Institute for the Study of War concludes in a new analysis note.

The analysis points to Putin’s explanation earlier this week that Russian forces struck the Ukrainian military intelligence headquarters two or three days previously.  READ MORE...
