A Step by Step Guide

Whether you’re a medical user or just fancy trying your hand at cannabis cultivation, this guide’s got you covered. We’ll take you through the ABCs of selecting strains, nailing the perfect growing conditions, and reaping a harvest you’ll be proud of.

Start with the best cannabis seeds from reputable banks like Seed Supreme, and follow the steps we’ve outlined later to ensure maximum yields.

So, kick back, relax, and let’s roll into this journey of green-thumb wisdom.

HOW TO GROW MARIJUANA: GETTING STARTED
First things first – knowing what you need will prepare you for the game.
  • Grow medium - organic soil isn’t your only choice
  • Grow Light - brightness has an effect on yields
  • Water - the right (water) PH matters
  • Air - consider fresh air (with a slight breeze)
  • Temperature - not too hot, and not too cold
  • Nutrients - like other plants, cannabis plants need to eat.

These points are just a summary of the important things you’ll need to grow marijuana – we’ll discuss it in detail in the subsequent sections.

The easiest way to get started with your cannabis growing journey is to purchase a grow kit. Homegrown Cannabis Co offers beginner grow kits that supply seeds, vital nutrients, and growing guides to make the process as easy as possible for you.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE TO GROWING MARIJUANA We’ll take you through the marijuana growing process below.

STEP 1: DECIDE WHERE YOU’RE GOING TO GROW YOUR CANNABIS PLANT
Should you grow indoors or outdoors? Well, each comes with its pros and cons. Growing cannabis outdoors is cheaper. When you grow outdoors, you don’t have to provide most of the supplies as mother nature and direct sunlight will take care of that.

However, your plants are likely to be stolen, pollinated, infested by bugs, eaten by deer, etc. Privacy isn’t also guaranteed – judgmental neighbors around could initiate the finger-pointing game. You get the point. Planting marijuana indoors, meanwhile, might come with a higher price tag (truth be told).

You’ll need to pick an ideal grow space, install a reliable lighting system, control temperature and humidity, etc. Yet, the benefits far outweigh the costs if you know what you’re doing. You have total control over your cannabis plants – you can “tell” them to flower whenever by altering the lighting cycle, among other things. Just ensure you’re providing everything your plants need to grow – nutrients, water, temperature, humidity, etc. Otherwise, you might compromise a luxuriant growth.                 READ MORE...

Growing Marijuana

Have you heard the news? Marijuana/cannabis became legal in Minnesota on August 1. It only took about 15 days for me to get my first Master Gardener question about it, so I did some digging into this psychedelic plant. Full disclosure: I have never actually grown it myself, so my information was gleaned from the internet. Reader, I googled this for you and found a dizzying array of blog posts, YouTube videos and news articles. Here is my attempt to distill it all into something… edible.

Question:
How hard is it to grow marijuana? Are there any regulations around it if you’re just growing it for personal use?

Answer:
First, let’s explore regulations, since those are unique to Minnesota. The full list of regulations around growing and consuming cannabis in the gopher state can be found on a new website, cannabis.mn.gov. The state says:
  • Up to eight cannabis plants, with no more than four being mature, flowering plants may be grown at a single residence as long as it is at the primary residence of someone 21 or older.
  • Plants must be in an enclosed, locked space that is not open for public view.

So what this means is that, practically speaking, if you’re starting plants from seed you would start no more than four at a time, so that after you harvest the first four, you’ll have four more almost ready to flower and then you can start four more plants from seed, and so on. This is if you’d want a continuous supply.  READ MORE...

Pros and Cons of Weed

Is weed good for you? What to know about the health benefits of cannabis

Medicinal benefits
Health risks
Good or bad?
Summary

Many people use cannabis and cannabis products as a treatment for chronic pain, multiple sclerosis, and mental health conditions. However, research has identified both benefits and risks to using cannabis as a medicinal treatment.

The medical benefits of cannabis most commonly come from cannabidiol (CBD) and delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). These are two compounds found in Cannabis sativa plants.

In states where it is legal, medical professionals may prescribe dried cannabis, oils, tablets, and other products containing CBD and THC to treat a range of conditions. These are broadly referred to as “medicinal cannabis.”

The effects of these treatments are well-studied and typically well-tolerated for their intended use. However, using cannabis products outside of their prescribed use or using cannabis from unlicensed distributors can carry great risk.

In this article, we look at the scientific evidence weighing the medical benefits of cannabis against its associated health risks.    READ MORE...

High Marijuana Use Linked to Heart Attacks

Smoking marijuana at least once a month is linked to an elevated risk of heart attack, according to a new study among nearly 160,000 people in the U.K.

The research, published Friday in the journal Cell, looked at more than 11,000 people between ages 40 and 69 who said they smoked marijuana at least once a month. The scientists then compared that group to 122,000 other people in the same age bracket who did not smoke marijuana at all, and nearly 23,000 more who smoked less frequently.

The study authors controlled for age, gender and body mass index — three factors that influence the risk of heart disease — and found that people who smoked marijuana frequently were more likely than people who did not to have a first heart attack before age 50. Having one heart attack increases the lifelong risk of having another or developing heart failure.

The findings align with other similar research. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention already warns that smoking marijuana could lead to an increased risk of heart disease, and a 2021 study identified an association between heart attacks and marijuana use in young adults. But the new study goes a step further, since it also attempts to figure out why smoking weed can lead to heart problems.

To investigate that, the researchers studied how THC affects both human stem cells and mice stem cells. It's already known that when people smoke marijuana, THC binds with a receptor in the brain, which is what gives the feeling of being high. In their lab studies, the team found that THC also binds to that receptor in blood vessels.

So the researchers suggested that using THC frequently could activate that receptor in a way that leads to inflammation in blood vessels, which in turn can accelerate a buildup of plaque in the arteries that can lead to a heart attack.  READ MORE...

Colorado's Best Towns

From natural hot springs to world-class ski and mountain bike trails, these small towns in Colorado offer something for every type of traveler.

The New Yorks and San Franciscos of the world tend to get all the credit — and visitors — but it's often a state's small towns that offer a true feel for the place. In Colorado, for example, some of the best parts of the state can be found well outside large cities like Denver and Colorado Springs.

It's in Colorado's best small towns that you'll find the state's notorious mountain views, mining-era downtowns, cowboy and ranching culture, and of course, plenty of outdoor activities — from skiing and hiking to fishing and whitewater rafting.

So, when you're ready to see a different side of the destination, give this list a peek to find a small town that checks all the boxes for a dreamy Colorado adventure.

Salida
Two and a half hours south of Denver will put you in Salida, a small town that sits in the heart of the Sawatch Range. It's a great place to challenge yourself to hike a 14,000-foot mountain (the area has plenty), bike the Arkansas Hills and Methodist Mountain trail systems, or do like the locals do and hang by the shady shores of the Arkansas River, which runs through town. No matter what adventure you end up on, you'll want to wrap up your day on the Moonlight Pizza & Brewpub patio with a well-deserved slice and beer.

Paonia
The climate in Colorado tends to be dry, but this little agricultural haven produces some of the state's best tree-ripened fruits — apricots, cherries, peaches, pears — and hosts a fall Ciderfest that celebrates all things apple with boot-stomping music and food. If local fruit doesn't get you excited, head to the town's well-regarded Creative District, an area full of shops, artist studios, and galleries, or visit one of the local wineries.   TO FIND OUT ABOUT THE OTHER EIGHT (8) TOWNS IN COLORADO, CLICK HERE...

NOTE:  It is perfectly legal to smoke marijuana in Colorado...  even tourists from another State...

Black Market Grass

Noxon, whose name has been changed, started selling weed about eight years ago in Dutchess County.

His legitimate job barely paid rent and bought food, but the discretionary income from selling weed and concentrated cannabis, including THC vape cartridges, which he said are diverted from the legal market in California, gave him what he called “a quality-of-life cushion.”

He has no plans to stop.

People don’t like paying taxes, Noxon said of the prospect of competing against legal adult-use cannabis in New York, especially when they already have an established black-market connection.

Noxon, and the black market as a whole, is one of the many wild cards in determining how many cannabis consumers in the state begin to purchase marijuana legally once dispensaries open. But a low tax rate on cannabis could shift consumers to the legal market more successfully than states like California.

After years of starts and stops, legislation legalizing adult recreational marijuana was signed into law by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo on March 31. The Marihuana Regulation and Taxation Act [MRTA] was intended to make up for a $15 billion budget shortfall, nearly all of which will be filled by the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan, though the law is still on the books.  READ MORE

Don't Mow the Grass

Do you live in a GREEN State?

Do you live in a BLUE State?

Do you live in a Grey/Gray State?

I live in the State of Tennessee which is Gray/Grey but my State of origin is North Carolina which is also Grey.Gray...

So, I have to drive/fly to Illinois or Colorado if I want to legally smoke a little weed...

PISSER!!!

BUT,
what really bothers me more than anything else when it comes to marijuana is that people in those Gray/Grey States put people in jail for buying/selling marijuana whereas if they were lucky enough to live in another State they would not be in jail.

HOW IS THAT FAIR???

Why is our Federal Government not taking a stand here?  They don't arrest marijuana buyer/sellers in those States where it is legal...   WHY NOT?  It is still ILLEGAL on a Federal level?
