Not a Man of Faith

I was raised United Methodist and my parents made me attend Sunday School and Church every Sunday (even on vacation-minus Sunday School) until I graduated from High School. Consequently, I have heard every major story and/or parable the Bible has to offer several times. I have also read the Bible from cover to cover and took notes, copying passages I thought were important.
While I do believe that the universe has a creator, I am not convinced that God is that creator, given the immensity of the universe and the belief that life (Human Beings) was created and put on earth ONLY. Plus, the Bible is full of scientific errors, the least of which is that the universe is only 6,000 years old, when science says otherwise.
But the clincher for me was when churches in the USA portrayed Jesus as Caucasian.
There are 12 major, recognized, religions in the world today, so why do ministers, pastors, and priests believe that ONLY CHRISTIANITY is the correct one... and, of the Christian Churches, why do Baptists believe that their denomination is the only correct one?
This, to me, is narrow minded thinking...
However, and this comment is directed only at Americans and those illegals who are living in America, why is there NO TOLERANCE for people who publicly demonstrate their religious beliefs.
I don't believe in what you believe, but it is your right to think and believe any way that you desire, in fact, it is actually none of my business.
But, here in America, we are killing people who do not believe like we do...
And, it is my opinion, that the Democrats are the ones who are pushing that belief...
I will never trust, nor will I vote for anyone who thinks I am wrong because I don't agree with them. And, I see no reason to debate you to try to change your POV nor will you change my POV. I accept you and that is as far as it needs to go.
NASA announces "groundbreaking discovery" of life on Mars
A recent analysis of the Sapphire Canyon mudstone core, drilled by NASA’s Perseverance rover in July 2024, adds new and convincing evidence to the ongoing search for life on Mars.
The study describes minerals and textures that – on Earth – are often linked to microbial activity. At the same time, the authors stress that some unknown, nonbiological chemistry could also explain the signals.
“This finding by Perseverance is the closest we have ever come to discovering life on Mars. The identification of a potential biosignature on the Red Planet is a groundbreaking discovery, and one that will advance our understanding of Mars,” said acting NASA Administrator Sean Duffy.

Detainees killed and injured in shooting at ICE facility in Dallas. One detainee was killed and two were left in critical condition after a shooter fired on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Dallas from a nearby rooftop, the Department of Homeland Security said yesterday. DHS said the shooter fired “indiscriminately” at the building, and the FBI said it was investigating the shooting as “an act of targeted violence.” No law enforcement personnel were injured in the shooting. The shooter was also found dead of a self-inflicted wound, officials said. Although the investigation is ongoing, FBI Director Kash Patel posted an image on X of unused ammunition that he said belonged to the shooter with “ANTI-ICE” written on it. Local officials cautioned against drawing conclusions about the shooter’s motivation until more is known.
Prosecutors said to be about to try to bring charges against James Comey. Federal prosecutors will seek a criminal indictment of James Comey, who led the FBI during President Trump’s first term but has since become a critic of the president, multiple news outlets reported yesterday. The deadline for the Justice Department to ask a grand jury to allow charges based on allegations that Comey lied during testimony to Congress in 2020 about about a possible connection between the Trump campaign and Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election (which Trump has called a hoax) is next week. Grand juries side with prosecutors more often than not, but there are reportedly some within the DOJ who do not believe the case is strong enough to meet the standard. The push for an indictment comes after Trump publicly questioned why the department had not swiftly brought cases against several people he considers foes.
New home sales spiked 20% in August. Sales of newly built homes in the US unexpectedly jumped last month to the highest level since January 2022, with sales up 20.5% compared to July and up 15.4% compared to last August. That was before mortgage rates started falling, so it could be a sign that price cuts and other incentives used by homebuilders to lure buyers amid an oversupply of new homes had their desired effect. But the surprising uptick could also be a quirk of the data: “Always important to remember the margin of error for new home sales is large,” the chief economist for the National Association of Home Builders told CNBC. The National Association of Realtors will report numbers for previously owned homes today.—AR

Congressional Disappointment

I heard the other day that a female member of Congress who was not born in the USA, said that this country was one of the worst countries in the entire world.
I don't know what came before her comment nor do I know what came after her comment, but I am sure she was talking about something; still, the logic behind a statement like this is clearly incorrect.
Additionally, why would any member of Congress make a point of telling the media that this country was so terrible?
What does she hope to achieve?
- Is this one of the worst countries in the world because a majority of Americans do not agree with her political views?
- Is this one of the worst countries in the world because a majority of Americans do not share her religious beliefs?
- Is this one of the worst countries in the world because there are more wealthy people here in this country than there were in the country she left?
My first blush comment for this member of Congress is that if she hates this country so bad, then why does she remain in the USA bitching about how bad it is???
At 77 years of age (78 next month), I have seen this country go through good and bad times, but I never thought or even considered it to be one of the worst countries in the world and not only have I spent time in numerous other countries, but I lived in Cairo, Egypt for four years.
Just our FREEDOMS ALONE, makes this one of the best countries, if not the best country in the world today. I would be willing to bet that if this female congressperson went back to her country and made the same comment about her country while serving in an elected position that she would be thrown in jail immediately.
I don't know for sure, but I can imagine that might happen...
120 year old fundamental law of Universe that Einstein got wrong has been proven
A physics professor from the Universidad de Sevilla (University of Seville) has tackled a problem in thermodynamics that has been around for more than a century, offering a new proof that also challenges an idea once put forward by Albert Einstein.
José María Martín Olalla’s study, published in The European Physical Journal Plus, focuses on the Nernst heat theorem. This theorem, first stated in 1905, says that as temperature gets closer to absolute zero, the exchange of entropy (a measure of disorder) also gets closer to zero.
In his paper, Martín Olalla shows that the theorem can be proven using only the second law of thermodynamics, which says that the entropy of the universe always increases.
