Chinese Robot Producing Oxygen from Water

Researchers in China have developed a robot chemist powered by artificial intelligence (AI) that might be able to extract oxygen from water on Mars. The robot uses materials found on the red planet to produce catalysts that break down water, releasing oxygen.

The idea could complement existing oxygen-generating technologies or lead to the development of other catalysts able to synthesize useful resources on Mars.

“If you think about the challenge of going to Mars, you have to work with local materials,” says Andy Cooper, a chemist at the University of Liverpool, UK. “So I can see the logic behind it.”   READ MORE...

Students on Our College Campuses

Pro-Palestinian Movement on college campuses as Pro-Israel donors pull out their money from the school.

The administration says nothing except we believe in the exercise of FREE SPEECH.

Conservative Speakers on college campuses are barred from speaking because LIBERAL students don't want to listen to opposing views.

The administration says nothing except we believe in the exercise of FREE SPEECH.

What kind of a colleges do we have here?

I went to college from 1966 to 1968 and from 1972-1974 because I took a break and spent a few years in the military for shits and giggles.  On my campus, and I was liberal then, we wanted both conservative and liberal views so we could make up our own minds.  WE DID NOT WANT TO BE TOLD HOW TO BELIEVE OR HOW TO THINK...

Students are not that clever these days and they CRAVE being told what to think and what to believe and how to prepare their homework.

The students that I taught in college for three years before I retired were juniors and seniors who wrote at the high school level.  Their thinking was at the high school level and their reading skills were not quite at the high school level.  They had terrible presentation skills.   AND...  when assigned papers they wanted me to tell them what to include in that paper.

GOOD GOD MAN.....  I WOULDN'T HIRE ANY OF THOSE STUDENTS...

I spent 60 hours on my MBA 1980/1981 and today you can get the same MBA in 30 hours...  WHO ARE WE KIDDING HERE?

College Students, being as smart as they think they are, get their news from SOCIAL MEDIA like Facebook and Twitter or X as it is called now.

My students DID NOT

  • read the newspapers
  • watch the news on television
  • want to do homework
  • want to ask questions
  • want to put forth any effort
  • have any vision of their future
  • know how to get a bill through Congress
  • know how to spell complex words
  • know simple grammar
  • think they needed to retain knowledge as long as they made "A's"

The Lost City of Punt Found

One of the most enduring mysteries within archaeology revolves around the identity of Punt, an otherworldly “land of plenty” revered by the ancient Egyptians. Punt had it all—fragrant myrrh and frankincense, precious electrum (a mixed alloy of gold and silver) and malachite, and coveted leopard skins, among other exotic luxury goods.

Despite being a trading partner for over a millennium, the ancient Egyptians never disclosed Punt’s exact whereabouts except for vague descriptions of voyages along what’s now the Red Sea. That could mean anywhere from southern Sudan to Somalia and even Yemen.  READ MORE...

Just More Opinions

GOVT is designed to take care of 100% of the population. Politics is designed to take care of 98% of the population. IT is a game between the two parties that sometimes gets nasty as they fight for that control. Wealthy people don't really care about govt or politics as long as they can continue to make money...

The rest of us play the game as we attempt to get ahead, not realizing we are part of the 98%, so we keep trying. Using coupons, taking advantage of sales, buying lottery tickets, putting a few bucks into sports pools, and gamble at casinos, hoping that lightening will strike and we will win the BIG ONE.

Like I always say, all of this revolves around GREED and the only way to beat the system is not to play the game. Just put yourself in a position where you have no problem keeping your head above water and maybe a little higher. Buy only what you need not what you want and save as much as you can.

Control your expectations and keep yourself healthy by exercising and eating healthy. Go on vacation at the end or beginning of the season. Buy year old cars. Have the proper maintenance done and keep the car for 10 years while you are saving for the next one.

Don't buy life insurance unless you think you are going to die early... save that money yourself. Don't get in debt. Reject raises that put you in a higher tax bracket unless it is a huge raise... like changing companies or changing states.

What would happen to our economies if the people got smart and did this. It would grow but grow slowly.

One of the things I learned from the rule of 72, is that if you divide the growth % into 72, the result is how long it takes for the cost of living to double. IF the cost of living doubles every 20 years. then it is something that you can try and plan for. The cost of living in 1960 versus 1980 versus 2000 versus 2020.

We have more due to inflation but our purchasing power has only increased slightly. The average American and possibly Canadian doesn't realize this. They don't realize this because all our marketing efforts brainwash us into buying... GREED.

SpaceX to Launch 2nd Starship

SpaceX's next Starship test launch could lift off as early as Nov. 17, pending regulatory approval from the Federal Aviation Administration and other agencies.

The potential launch from SpaceX's Starbase test site at Boca Chica Beach near Brownsville, Texas will mark the company's second test flight of an orbital class Starship and Super Heavy booster — the largest and most powerful rocket ever built. SpaceX launched its first Starship test flight in April, but it exploded shortly after liftoff.

"Starship preparing to launch as early as November 17, pending final regulatory approval," SpaceX wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, late Friday (Nov. 10).  READ MORE...

Billionaires to Support Israel

A billionaire real estate tycoon in the United States is rallying support for a high-dollar media crusade to boost Israel’s image and demonize the Hamas armed group amid global pro-Palestinian solidarity protests.

The media campaign — called Facts for Peace — is seeking million-dollar donations from dozens of the world’s biggest names in media, finance and technology, according to an email seen by news website Semafor.

More than 50 individuals are being courted, including former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, Dell CEO Michael Dell and financier Michael Milken. They have a combined net worth of around $500bn, Semafor said.  READ MORE...

Just Opinions

The new Speaker is going to be a problem for the House because he is so hardline. He will destroy the party to get his way, is my opinion because he is a born again Christian and has God on his side... therefore, he is justified but only in his own mind... not passing a budget will hurt lots of people and if it happens, hatred for the GOP will escalate...

We want resolution and compromise and to move on... we need to get beyond Trump, beyond Bidens, beyond open borders, and beyond wokeness. IF we are going to destroy democracy, then get on with it... stop fucking around and dragging us through the mud due to your egos. IT is time for the ENDGAME...

We can learn something from the IDF if we will simply open our eyes and finally tell the rest of the world how we really feel... A few people in charge and a few companies that rebuild after wars do not represent what Americans really think, feel, and want.

One of these days, the American people are finally going to realize that the people they elected don't really represent them... they represent the party not the electorate. Rich people mainly care about lower taxes... the rest of what the government does not bother them.

The poor people want higher wages and a chance at the American dream. They are willing to chase the dream not realizing they will never get it. These are the ones who want the govt to take care of them.

Women want abortions because they believe in love and think sex brings them love. Males just want sex without complications. Abortions allow women not to be tied down while they are looking for love. Males are looking for mothers and sometimes partners but that depends on their vision and goals.

If you look at the statistics, only TWO PERCENT of the population has what it takes to be successful. NINETY EIGHT PERCENT are born without those qualities...

Far Worse Than Imagined

Hamed Esmaeilion has to watch his back wherever he goes — unable to escape the oppressive and violent regime that rules his homeland of Iran, even when he’s in Canada.  When he first arrived in 2010 with his wife Parisa and daughter Reera, Esmaeilion thought he had come to the safest country in the world.  “But it’s not,” he says.

His wife and daughter were among 176 people killed, including 55 Canadian citizens, when the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) shot down Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752 on Jan. 8, 2020. That shattered any illusions the Ontario man had that his family would live happily ever after in Canada.  READ MORE...

Back in the Day

If you have an opportunity to live as long as I have lived, you will have an opportunity to say:  BACK IN THE DAY...

This phrase, automatically implies that the past was better somehow than the present, although the present does not last very long at all...  because in a moment or two, the present always moves into the past, as we and time move forward.

Back in the Day, for me, is the 1960s...

Unfortunately, it is not the 1960s in the USA but the 1960s in Cairo, Egypt.

My family and I lived in Cairo, Egypt for four years, 1962-1966...  I left to go to college and they remained.

Cairo, Egypt in the 1960s was nothing like the USA.

  • We did not have cars to drive
  • We did not have drive-ins to drive the cars too
  • We did not have drive-in theaters
  • We did not have College or Pro athletics
  • We did not have McDonalds hamburgers and French fries or milkshakes

But what we did have was much better and much different.

  • We had no curfews
  • We went to nightclubs in Cairo
  • We rode camels and Arabian horses into the desert
  • We climbed up pyramids
  • We had 28 students in our senior class, representing 18 different nationalities
  • We played squash at the country club along with pool and snookers
  • We rode in taxis everywhere
  • We could buy a hashish cigarette for five cents
  • We had no age limits on drinking alcohol

In the summer months, we were not allowed to work, so a group of us would always spend our three summer months traveling around Europe.
We could catch a train from Cairo to the port of Alexandria for $2, and for $10 buy a deck chair where the next morning the boat, crossing the Mediterranean Sea, would arrive in Greece.

For about $30, you could buy a Eurail Pass with unlimited mileage for a month.  We would stay in Youth Hostels that cost from fifty cents/night to $1.25/night.

We visited Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Norway, Sweden, Turkey, and Austria.  We would spend a day or two in each city.

SAS Airlines published a book, EUROPE ON $3/day...  before I graduated, it was EUROPE ON $5/day.

What is amazing is that in Rome, we could walk up to The Piata and touch it if we wanted.  Years later, when I went there with my wife, it was behind a glass shield and the closest you could get was about 10-15 feet away.

For me anyway, that is BACK IN THE DAY...
