LIFE's Worth LIVING

The JOY OF LIVING...

is different for everyone as some like to feel as though life is OPPRESSING them...  and maybe it is but what is the alternative?

The JOY OF LIVING is not wishing that you have what other people have and then going in debt to try and get there, but to accept what you have and make the most out of it.

I know of a young man who at 19 was charged with murder because he drove the get-away car but did not know what his passenger was planning.  He spent 30 years of his life in prison before being granted parole.

While in prison his attitude was "DO YOUR TIME DON'T LET YOUR TIME DO YOU."

He read books, took courses, learned woodworking, and became an electrician after being released.

He started at the bottom at 49 years of age and did not complain, learned what he could as fast as he could.  Five years later, he had his own crew and was making over $25/hour.

Today, he is a model citizen because he accepted what he had, and someone was willing to give him a second chance.

I understand, not everyone can be like that, but his example, no the crime, is a good one to follow.

We have been given LIFE and sometimes that life is cut short and sometimes we live to 80 years of age and older, many of us now reaching 100 or better.

This life of ours, only happens once...  that we know about...

It is not always going to be perfect nor is it always going to be what we want, but we can accept it and deal with it whatever it may be and make the most of it when presented to us...

BEING POSITIVE IS MUCH BETTER THAN BEING NEGATIVE

Chinese well-drilling technology turns Egypt's deserts into farmland

As summer begins, patches of lush farmland stretch across Egypt's Western Desert, an area that, until recently, was dominated by sand and rocks. Thanks to the deep wells drilled by the Egypt branch of China's Zhongman Petroleum and Natural Gas Group (ZPEC), wheat, alfalfa and potatoes now thrive in tidy rows under the desert sun.

These wells, part of a broader effort to reclaim desert land for agriculture, have transformed the barren landscape into productive farmland, offering a model for sustainable development in arid regions and underscoring the potential of international cooperation in addressing food security and ecological restoration.

California sues Trump for sending National Guard to quell LA protests. California Gov. Gavin Newsom said his state is suing over President Trump’s order deploying the National Guard to shut down anti-ICE demonstrations in Los Angeles despite the objections of local leaders. The governor posted on X that the president had illegally federalized the National Guard, saying, “The order he signed doesn’t just apply to CA. It will allow him to go into ANY STATE and do the same thing.” The White House, meanwhile, called the lawsuit “baseless,” and the president also supported his border czar Tom Homan’s suggestion that Newsom should be arrested if he obstructed federal immigration enforcement. Yesterday, in an escalation of military presence, Trump also deployed Marines and additional National Guard troops to LA.

China’s exports to the US fell by the most since 2020 in May. The US and Chinese representatives meeting in London this week in hopes of achieving a trade war truce have a lot to talk about—and a lot at stake. Last month, Chinese exports to the US declined 34.5%, the steepest drop since February 2020 when Covid shut down China’s economy and snarled global supply chains. This dip occurred despite a temporary trade agreement reached May 12, which led to lower (but still elevated) tariffs for 90 days. In this week’s talks, which began yesterday and are expected to continue, China is hoping the US will back down on tariffs and access to tech, while the US wants China to allow more exports of rare earth minerals. After yesterday’s meetings, Trump said China is “not easy,” but that he’s “only getting good reports.”

A Wall Street dealmaker steps down from the top of his eponymous firm. Moelis & Co., an investment bank with a market value of ~$4.6 billion, is about to have a little bit less Moelis, as its founder Ken Moelis is leaving the CEO role, per the Wall Street Journal. He’s expected to stay on as executive chairman after handing the reins over to co-founder and current bank co-president Navid Mahmoodzadegan on Oct. 1. Moelis, who unlike Logan Roy has been planning his exit for years, said he intends to have the “smoothest transition ever in the history of Wall Street.”—AR

The Coward Goes to War Against America
Trump wants Americans to turn violent. We will be steadfast.

Friends,

The man who launched an attempted coup on the United States in 2020 and instigated an insurrection at the Capitol that resulted in five deaths now claims that people in Los Angeles are launching an insurrection. They’re not.

Yesterday, the Pentagon activated 700 Marines out of the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms, California, to join the 4,000 federalized National Guard’s military occupation of parts of Los Angeles.

Trump doesn’t give a damn whether the troops are necessary. Nor does he care how many people are injured or even killed in his raid on Los Angeles. The show of military force is the point. It gives him the appearance of power.

Obesity

Obesity remains a significant public health challenge in the U.S. Recent data from 2023 shows that more than one in three adults (35%) in 23 states have obesity, marking a steady increase over the past decade. Before 2013, no state had an adult obesity prevalence at or above 35%, but now at least one in five adults (20%) in every U.S. state is living with obesity.

Why are AMERICANS so FAT?

I am 78 years old, 6'1", 220 pounds and I am considered overweight.  At my age and height my weight should be 190, making me 30 pounds overweight.  When I was 73/74, I weight 250 so I have made some slow improvement.

However, I was not overweight, until I was about 65 years of age and stopped living a physically active lifestyle while continuing with my over-eating lifestyle.

What is interesting here, is that at the age of 40, I quit:
  • smoking
  • drinking alcohol
  • eating red meat
  • sugars and fats
  • fried foods

and I changed to:
  • more veggies
  • more beans
  • more fish and chicken

So...
here's the mistake I made.
I did not cut back on my serving size.

I also learned that exercise does not really help you lose weight, it only helps maintain your current weight.
What loses weight is:
SERVING SIZE

Many nutritionists suggest that you eat FIVE SMALL MEALS A DAY...
This helps cut out snacking.

I became obese at the age of 65 and today, most children are obese in elementary school and that obesity stays with them for the rest of their lives.

First fuel-free car in history lands in America — Just daylight needed to hit the roads

Aptera Motors is making history by bringing the first fuel-free car to America. Aptera’s innovative move not only signifies a shift in vehicle technology but also focuses on what driving green means. It was at the 2025 CES in Las Vegas that Aptera (a California-based startup) unveiled its new solar-powered electric vehicle, a three-wheeled and sleek machine that requires only one thing to enable it to run on roads daily.

While the alternate power source is what sets Aptera’s vehicle apart, its radical aerodynamic shape also needs to be considered as one of its most unique features. Aptera’s motor, developed in partnership with iconic Italian design house Pininfarina, has led to the car being hailed as one of Europe’s premier wind tunnels in Turin. As such, the Aptera claims to offer one of the lowest drag coefficients of any passenger vehicle in the world. No confirmation has been provided of the exact number, however, previous versions had drag coefficients as low as 0.13 in comparison to 0.23 for Tesla’s Model 3.
