Day Tripping

Today, my wife and I had to travel to Nashville, TN; the trip lasted about 2-3 hours, even though the posted speed limit signs were 70MPH and we always drive faster than what is posted.

We left our location (1,161 feet above sea level)., and it was 32 degrees outside; halfway into our trip, our temperature outside was 22 degrees and we were on top of the Cumberland Plateau (4,222 feet above sea level).  A 10-degree drop in temperature for 3,000 feet, or a 1-degree temperature drop for every 300-foot increase in height.

However, we are talking about the end of February...  so, the ratio may be different next month or even the next day...

What struck me about our trip was not so much the change in temperatures but how fast the traffic was moving despite the posted speed limits.

Sometimes, I would be driving 75MPH to 80MPH and cars would be passing me as if I was standing still; they had to be traveling close to 90MPH or even faster.

During our three-hour trip, I never saw one highway patrol vehicle either going to Nashville or returning home from Nashville.

On our way back, we stopped at Buc-ee's and filled up with gasoline (about a dime cheaper than at home) and got something to eat and drink.  If you don't know Buc-ee's, it has a huge inside store, that you could spend an hour in if you wanted.  It also has 120 gasoline pumps and well as 20 or so electric charging stations.

Archaeologists left in complete shock

Archaeologists were uncovering a mystery after opening a hidden Egyptian pyramid for the very first time - only to be shocked by what they found inside.

The village of Dahshur is an ancient royal burial site known for its few remaining pyramids and buried ruins.

British Egyptologist and writer, Doctor Chris Naunton, described the area as a 'lunar-looking landscape.'

After uncovering finely cut limestone blocks, scientists discovered the remains of one pyramid that had been hidden under the sands for thousands of years

They quickly informed the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities - the government department that preserves the country's ancient history and heritage - which led to a full-scale excavation.

The discovery was so momentous that it was featured in the 'Mystery of the Lost Pyramid' - a documentary film broadcast by the Smithsonian Channel.      READ MORE...

Racism

Racism is the belief that different races possess distinct characteristics, abilities, or qualities that make them superior or inferior to one another. It often results in prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against individuals based on their race or ethnicity.

Racism can manifest in various ways, including:

Individual Racism: Personal beliefs and actions that reflect racial prejudice and discrimination.

Institutional Racism: Policies, practices, and systems within institutions (such as schools, workplaces, or governments) that perpetuate racial inequality.

Systemic Racism: Societal structures and cultural norms that maintain racial disparities and inequities across multiple institutions and social contexts.

Understanding and addressing racism involves recognizing its existence, educating oneself and others, and actively working towards promoting equality and justice for all individuals, regardless of their race or ethnicity. Louise Joséphine Bourgeois - Artist

Louise Joséphine Bourgeois (French: [lwiz buʁʒwa]; 25 December 1911 – 31 May 2010) was a French-American artist. Although she is best known for her large-scale sculpture and installation art, Bourgeois was also a prolific painter and printmaker. She explored a variety of themes over the course of her long career including domesticity and the family, sexuality and the body, as well as death and the unconscious. These themes connect to events from her childhood which she considered to be a therapeutic process. Although Bourgeois exhibited with the abstract expressionists and her work has a lot in common with Surrealism and feminist art, she was not formally affiliated with a particular artistic movement.

Life in a Bubble

Most of us live in our own little bubble in a region of the US, in a state in that region, in a county in that state, and/or in a city in that state.  Our behavior and thought processes are dictated the varies societies that are in and around us.

For example, we could live in a BLUE STATE but the society of the community in which we live is RED.  Now, inside that red community, we might have another society that is religious and one that is not.  We may also have a society that is educated and one that is not.

Another example is whether or not you live the east, west, north, south, or Midwest USA...  Each of those areas have their own unique societies, attitudes, philosophies, cooking methods, etc.

I remember moving from NC to TN and the phrase that caught my attention first was the use of the word YONDER...  In TN, yonder could me a foot or so away or several miles depending upon the intent of the speaker.

Veterans have a different society than non-veterans and disabled veterans have a different society than non-disabled veterans...  Just like blacks, whites, Hispanics, males, females, professional athletes, musicians, entertainers, and Hollywood celebrities.

My life changed as did that of my wife when we retired ten years ago.  Once you have retired, you are no longer part of the labor force no matter how hard you try...  You are just not working and therefore you are just not accepted.  You may still have friends who are working but they treat you differently now.

None of this is intentional...  it is just the way it is.

Super Earth Planet May Host Life

A "super-Earth" planet found outside of our solar system could have conditions suitable for life, according to experts at the University of Oxford.  Researchers said the planet has a mass six times greater than our Earth's and orbits in a "habitable zone" of a star similar to the sun.

While located 20 light-years away, scientists believe the planet - named HD 20794 d - could be at the right distance from its star to sustain water on its surface.  Dr Michael Cretignier, postdoctoral research assistant at the university's physics department, said: "Excitingly, its proximity with us means there is hope for future space missions to obtain an image of it."

However, because HD 20794 d orbits in an elliptical way, rather than circular like the Earth, it is unclear whether it would be able to host life.    READ MORE...

Neil deGrasse Tyson Explains Dimensions

Multiverse

The multiverse is a hypothetical collection of all universes, including the one we live in. It's also known as the meta-universe, parallel universes, or alternative universes.

How does the multiverse work?
The multiverse is made up of everything that exists, including space, time, matter, energy, and information.

The multiverse is predicted by scientific theories, including string theory.

There are many versions of the multiverse, including different planes of space and bubble universes.

The multiverse could include shadow matter, which is similar to regular matter but can't interact with it.

History of the term
The term multiverse was coined by American philosopher William James in 1895.

The idea of the multiverse has appeared in many areas, including cosmology, quantum mechanics, and philosophy.

Other uses of the term multiverse
Multiverse may also refer to a program that helps people develop skills for the workplace.

The multiverse may also appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Anselm Kiefer Artist

Anselm Kiefer (born 8 March 1945) is a German painter and sculptor. He studied with Peter Dreher and Horst Antes at the end of the 1960s. His works incorporate materials such as straw, ash, clay, lead, and shellac. The poems of Paul Celan have played a role in developing Kiefer's themes of German history and the horrors of the Holocaust, as have the spiritual concepts of Kabbalah.

In his entire body of work, Kiefer argues with the past and addresses taboo and controversial issues from recent history. Themes from Nazi rule are particularly reflected in his work; for instance, the painting Margarete (oil and straw on canvas) was inspired by Celan's well-known poem "Todesfuge" ("Death Fugue").
